An original 1968 White Album - what's not to like? An original 1st pressing from the time of release. Yes, you can find slightly earlier copies with "No Emi" on the labels, but this copy is early and from whilst it was still riding high in the charts.
And what's even more important - it's very well preserved indeed. Statement which has to show to qualify for 1st issue. The vinyl is really heavy pressed which the original copies are famed for. The vinyl comes housed in an original top-loading embossed number stamped copy "0438978" - this all has to be present to qualify for 1st issue status.
Also included are both original black inners, the poster lyric sheet, and three out of four quality original photos [Lennon missing]. So, 100% genuine and 99% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex/Ex-/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Please be aware that there are a few light trail marks per side. So, if you're someone who cannot stand any marks at all - this copy may not be for you. But these marks are by and large SUPERFICIAL, basically top-level marks, caused mostly by taking the records in an out of the sleeve/cover. They're not heavy and will, for the most part, not impact the audio - apart from in one or two isolated moments.Remember - original White Album pressings are around 150grams in weight which really helps. But what's also important is how well preserved the audio is and the only way to be sure is with a full and thorough test [this is precisely what we perform]. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. I cannot recommend the 1st pressings highly enough. If you need to hear the White Album as it was originally intended you HAVE to have a 1st pressing as nothing else is quite going to cut the mustard. This copy pretty much manages an EXCELLENT level of playback for the most part with only three deviations. It's a very nice clean player for 90%+ of the audio and only falls short in a couple of tracks. WHITE Albums that play this well, unfortunately, are the exception to the norm. The deviations are in'Mother Nature's Son' - I picked up four or five ticks in the 1st half of the song [nothing all that obtrusive], and a few crackles here and there in'Revolution Nine', and then three ticks in the opening of'Cry Baby'. But, I guess, this is testament to the quality of pressing - and a pretty careful owner down the years. A masterpiece delivered to a high standard.
Even in those low-key acoustic tracks - SWEET. Cover (Ex-) Take a look at some of the other White Album covers out there... See how difficult it is to find a decent looking copy without shelling out a fortune. What we have here is a very well preserved copy.
Whilst it's not perfect it is much much better than what typically surfaces. There's some light discolouration noticeable, but it is not overtly standing out and is almost impossible to eliminate entirely with an original WA. The most impressive aspect is the structure of the cover.
The heavy-card is extremely well preserved and the cover feels rigid and sturdy. There's a it of light edge wear, but at no point is it excessive. There are no nasty surface markings anywhere. The BEATLES embossed text and number are looking real sweet. The interior is superb - no issues at all. The only margin let down is the spine which is experiencing some discolouration [a small price to pay]. Overall a very impressive looking original example.
One or two light marks. A couple of tiny seam splits [nothing structural]. Photos (Ex) Super original quality. Inners (Vg/G) Both needed serious tape repairs.
One is fairing a bit better than the other which is well worn. Please check out my other BEATLES LP's for sale..
