Complete set of Capitol Disc Jockey promotional albums from 1969. These rare, never for sale albums were given to radio stations to promote artists on the Capitol label. Capitol Records had done this all through the 60s, but in 1969 they came up with a gimmick. On the back of each cover they wrote, Keep the cover and post it on a wall marked reserved for luscious'Capitol Disc Jockey Albums.
After collecting and posting a year's worth, what will emerge is a magical-fantastic puzzle in one luscious piece. It is quite difficult to find all of them and can be very expensive. To my knowledge, a full set has never been for sale.Covers range from G+ to VG+. There is some light writing on the December and the August covers. There is a 4 split on the bottom edge of the September album.
There is some very noticeable ring wear and edge wear on some and there is some writing and stains on the back of a couple. But as a whole, they are display-worthy and look super cool. The vinyls are all VG to VG+. There are too many artists to mention, but can be looked up easily.
Most people collect these for the covers, as the music is generally crooners like Lou Rawls, Glen Campbell and Guy Lombardo. The Band does appear though on one album.
Please check out the pictures and contact me for any particular concerns or questions. A great, one time opportunity to own the complete set!
